Hoval’s man of steel
Jon Radford, a project engineer with Newark-based Hoval, is to attempt the gruelling Steelman Triathlon, with a view to raising a minimum of £5,000 for Marie Curie Cancer Care.
The 2011 Steelman event will take place at Dorney Lake, the rowing venue for the 2012 Olympic games, on the 3rdJuly. Competitors will begin with a 1500m swim in the lake followed by a 40km cycle ride and a 10km run.
A keen marathon runner, Jon has set himself a particularly daunting task with the triathlon as he has limited swimming experience and has only recently bought his first bicycle.
“The Steelman will certainly be a challenge but it’s for a very worthy cause, and that’s great motivation for my training,” Jon commented. “I’m very grateful to Hoval and all of the individuals who have already agreed to sponsor me, and hopefully we can generate more sponsorship in the run-up to the event,” he added
