History of Hoval in the UK

Hoval Ltd, based in Newark-on-Trent, Nottinghamshire, is the UK branch of the international Hoval Group, headquartered in Liechtenstein. The Hoval brand was registered in 1945 and remains privately owned by members of the original founding family. Today, Hoval is recognised globally for its expertise in commercial heating and ventilation, with subsidiaries throughout Europe and partners around the world.
Hoval first entered the UK market in 1958 and, in 1961, acquired the historic Farrar boiler works – a manufacturing site in Newark originally established in 1887. Farrar had supplied boilers and heating equipment across the British Empire before becoming part of the Hoval family. The Newark site went on to produce Hoval’s trusted steel shell and industrial steam boilers, such as the SR-Plus, serving projects across healthcare, education, custodial, industrial, and sports sectors.
In 2021, Hoval launched the UltraGas 2 – an advanced gas condensing boiler that builds on the long-standing reputation of the original UltraGas, while preparing for the transition to future fuels and helping customers meet decarbonisation goals.

In September 2024, Hoval expanded its low-carbon offering with the introduction of the Belaria pro (24) – a compact, high-performance air-to-water heat pump designed for small to medium-sized commercial sites. This was followed by the launch of the larger Belaria pro (40, 50) models in April 2025, offering greater flexibility and capacity for more demanding applications.
A significant chapter in our UK journey came to a close in November 2024, when UK manufacturing at the Newark site ceased. This move allows us to focus on delivering cutting-edge technologies from Hoval’s wider European production facilities, while continuing to provide trusted expertise, service and support to customers across the UK.
We continue to offer intelligent system solutions through products such as the Hoval Indoor Climate System, which brings together heating, cooling and ventilation in an integrated design that maximises efficiency and comfort.
Hoval is also proud to hold a Royal Warrant, a mark of quality and trust. After holding the Warrant by Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II for over 30 years, we were honoured to be granted a new Warrant in 2024 by His Majesty the King, recognising Hoval as Boilermakers and Engineers.
Guided by our philosophy of “Responsibility for energy and environment”, Hoval remains committed to delivering sustainable, high-quality solutions for commercial and industrial buildings across the UK.
